Day 9 - Port Angeles and Sequim 10/10

Sad to leave Victoria! Today we take the MV Coho across the Straight of Juan De Fuca to Port Angeles. Another clear sunny day! We'll be in a Quality Inn in Sequim for two nights - we explore the Olympic Nat'l Park tomorrow.

Leaving Victoria Harbor was fun! Such a busy place - 5 float planes coming and going, little water taxis, the yacht Elisa, a giant cruise ship, a Nat'l Geographic vessel, canoers, wow!

We got to Port Angeles about noon after a 90 minute voyage. We drove west on Rt 112 out toward the end of the Olympic peninsula with no particular destination in mind. We went as far as Sekiu and had nice late lunch at the Breakwater. We returned via the much better Rt 101, passing Crescent Lake. The lake is beautiful, with high mountains surrounding it, although difficult to see since there's no place to turn off the twisty road.  Rt. 112 is a terrible road - unless you like twisties!

We reached our hotel about 6:00, nice dinner at Applebees, right across the parking lot. (We had been to the Olympic Peninsula before, when we visited Washington in October 1998.)
