Day 13 - Home to Boise 10/14

Yet another cloudless sky - unbelievable streak of fantastic weather! Of course, the weather being so clear, we had to drive to the top of Pilot Butte for the view before we left! We've made the trip from Bend to Boise many times over the years. Its in two parts - coming this way, the two and half hours from Bend to about 20 miles east of Burns on Rt 20 is really boring - high, flat and dry desert.  Then the road rises up and over Stinkwater Pass (4200') then along the Malheur River canyons. Its really quite beautiful! Then you come out into Vale and eastern Oregon's famous Onion country.

The goal of our trip was achieved - exploration of the San Juans. But the highlight for me was Victoria - what an interesting city! And with the exception of a couple of days of drizzle at the beginning, our weather was fantastic!

13 days and 1820 miles. The VW averaged 37 mpg.
